Kiwanis to hold swim meet

The Portales Kiwanis Club will hold its annual children’s swim meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Portales Municipal Pool, according to a news release.

The event is open to ages 8-17. Preregistration is required but there is no cost to enter. A variety of events and games will be organized by the club with ribbons awarded to the swimmers.

The pool will be open for free swimming from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the meet. Following the meet free watermelon will be served to swimmers and their parents. If the weather is bad the competition will be rescheduled for July 30.
