Band set for concert at Ned Houk

The Clovis Community Band will perform a variety of standard band pieces, Broadway selections and a few marches in the informal setting of Ned Houk Park, according to conductor Dustin Seifert.

“This setting will be more relaxed than in a concert hall, because people can talk and socialize while listening to the band,” Seifert said.

The Clovis Community Band has been performing for the past 25 years, according to Seifert. This year’s band is compiled of Clovis citizens, college students, military members and high school students. According to Seifert, some band members have been playing instruments for more than 70 years.

The band has been practicing together since early May.

Seifert is the band director at Eastern New Mexico University for eight years.

This is his third year with the Clovis Community Band.
