It’s true — government in Tucumcari wants to control population ... the animal population, that is.

The Tucumcari city commission has agreed to spend $4,000 for a two-day spay and neuter clinic for dogs and cats on May 24-25. The time and location will be announced later.

The program is for Tucumcari residents only and owners will be charged as follows:

• Male cats, $10;

• female cats, $20

• male dogs, $20;

• female dogs, $30.

The animal’s vaccination and rabies shots are included in the price.

A discount will be available for senior citizens.
