Amarillo Little Theatre is presenting “The Pillowman” as its final production of the 2007-08 Adventure Space season.

The Tony-nominated play, written by Martin McDonagh, is the winner of England's Olivier Award for best play.

The show runs tonight through Saturday at 8 p.m. (CDT), and will conclude with a 2:30 p.m. (CDT) Sunday performance.

The play concluded its Broadway run on Sept. 18, 2005, but has received a second life in theatres across the nation.

With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, Quentin Tarantino, the Brothers Grimm and the Coen Brothers, the dark comedy tells the tale of Katurian, a fiction writer living in a police state who is interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories, and their similarities to a number of bizarre child murders occurring in his town. The theatre warns “The Pillowman,” rated R, is not a play suitable for everyone. The show contains strong language, violence and disturbing subject matter.

The ensemble for this production includes Michael Newman, Don M. Washburn, Michael Westmoreland, Richie Garza, Amber Burton and Don Shipman. The show is being co-directed by Allen Shankles and Cara Kee.
