Parents turn son in for burglary

Three Clovis boys were arrested Tuesday morning for burglary after one of the suspects' parents discovered the boys had broken into a family member's home, according to police reports.

The parents called police to a home in the 1200 block of Lexington about 3 a.m. to report they had found their son and his friends in their father's home, which they were housesitting.

The boys are 12-, 14- and 16-years-old, according to the report.

The couple's son admitted he and his friends broke into the home to take a bottle of his grandfather's liquor. He said he used his grandfather's garage door code to gain entry to the home, the report said.

The parents provided written statements to police.

The boys were charged with felony burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary. They were taken to the juvenile detention center.
