Sickness: Something to be shared

The Lady of the House and I were paying our tab at a Clovis eatery when I overheard some of the waitresses on break in a nearby booth.

“You had ‘The Crud’ yet?” asked one. “I’ve had it twice and I had the flu shot. I was in bed for two days.”

Yep, she was talking about the same stuff I had not long ago. But was it the flu or was it “The Crud?”

You start to cough, then you lose your energy, then the next thing you know you’re in bed or on the sofa coughing and hacking and running a fever and coughing and losing your voice and thinking you’re at death’s door and aching and whining and coughing.
