Senior transportation services hearing set

There will be an older Americans Act Services Public Hearing regarding senior transportation services provided by the city of Portales Senior Citizens Center at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Portales Senior Citizens Center.

The purpose of the hearing is to receive public comment on the services currently provided.

Dairy Disaster Assistance available

Eligible dairy producers who suffered losses in 2005, 2006 and 2007 may now apply to receive benefits under the Dairy Disaster Assistance ProgramIII through May 5.

To be eligible, a producer’s operation must be in a county designated a major disaster or emergency area by the president or a natural disaster by the secretary of agriculture between Jan. 1, 2205 and Dec. 31, 2007. Producers may sign up at their local Farm Services Administration office.

Melrose BPA to hold “Sunday Lunch”

Melrose Business Professionals of America will hold a “Sunday Lunch” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Melrose School Cafeteria. Admission is by donation.

The event is being held to raise funds from students to attend BPA national leadership conference in Reno, Nev.
