Natural gas prices to rise

The Associated Press

ALBUQUERQUE — Public Service Company of New Mexico says gas prices will be higher in March.

Customers will pay about 87.77 cents per therm, which is a unit of heating.

That’s an increase of 11.4 percent over February’s price of 78.79 cents and 1.6 percent higher than the 86-cent price of a year ago.

The March price will mean an average gas bill of just under $111.

PNM says colder weather in the Northeast and record high crude oil prices pushed up the price of gas.

However, the utility also says warmer weather in March often means customers use less gas during the month.
