MS group to meet

An area Multiple Sclerosis self-help group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Caduceus Room at Plains Regional Medical Center, 2100 N. Martin Luther King, Clovis.

Dr. Oswald Graham is the guest speaker and will be addressing nutrition.

Medicare Basics program offered

Lucas Zertuche from the New Mexico Aging and Long Term Services Department will give a presentation, Medicare Basics, an overview of Medicare and other senior programs at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Services Center Senior Meal Site, 1100 Community Way, Portales.

AARP chapter to meet

The Portales AARP chapter will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Community Services Center, 1100 Community Way, Portales.

Steve North, program specialist with the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will make a presentation on the Newman Project.

The meeting is open to the public.

Blood drive planned

There will be a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday in the donor bus at Yucca Telecom, 201 W. Second St., Portales.

Donors must be at least 17, in good health, and present a photo ID.

Tax-Aide begins Tuesday

Tax-Aide, a program sponsored jointly by the IRS and AARP begins Tuesday and runs through April 8. Low- and middle-income residents who would like to have a volunteer prepare their income tax returns may come by Eastern New Mexico University’s College of Business lobby from 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. No service is available during ENMU’s spring break, the last week of March.

The program utilizes trained volunteers who are mostly local AARP members, ENMU students and professors and Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) members.

Participants should bring Social Security cards for each person on the return along with all income documentation with them. Most returns will be filed online.
