Editor takes trip back in time

Billy the Kid is said to have been a frequent visitor to the Portales Springs, no doubt when he was stealing horses and driving them to sell at Old Tascosa in the Texas Panhandle.

Zane Dalton is a Clovis High School student with a viewpoint:

He’s opposed to a proposal that would allow Clovis restaurants to sell alcohol on Sundays.

“People are asking to be served alcoholic drinks on Sunday in the name of progress. And progress it would be – a quick progression to more DWIs and crashes resulting from intoxication,” he wrote in an e-mail.

“People are allowed to buy alcohol six days a week, and they are allowed to drink seven. Not allowing sales of alcohol on Sunday simply drives down the number of people who will be driving drunk when most people are out with their families.”
