Christmas light parade Saturday

The 11th annual Christmas Light Parade will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.

The parade, which is sponsored by Clovis MainStreet, will begin at 14th and Main streets and continue south until it ends at Grand Street. The theme for this year’s event is “Clovis 100 Years in the Making.”

According to Clovis MainStreet Executive Director Robyne Beaubien, approximately 80 parade entries have been received. “It’s going to be big,” Beaubien said.

Beaubien said the parade entries include motorcycles, horses, vintage cars, the Texas Tech Masked Rider and numerous local organizations. All will be decked out with thousands of Christmas lights, she said.

And Santa Claus will make a surprise appearance as well. “It is going to be fun,” Beaubien said.

Following the parade, an awards ceremony will be held at the Master’s Centre. Beaubien said awards will be given to the top five parade entries.

The entries will be judged on interpretation of theme, originality and use of lights.
