Zeta Upsilon

Zeta Upsilon, chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, kicked off the 2007-08 club year with a brunch Aug. 25 at the Bread Basket. Two other Portales chapters, Xi Lambda and Pi Master, joined Zeta Upsilon.

Zeta Upsilon is making plans for Oct. 11 when the chapter will entertain with a barbecue dinner and a rendition of “Hee Haw,” the popular television show of the past.

Officers for Zeta Upsilon include: president, Anna Foster; vice president, Judy Hall; secretary, Kim Dewbre; and treasurer, Dana Howell.

Other members include: Susan Pippin, Deborah Strong, Janet Roff, Donna Tuttle, and Jennifer Pippen. Members presently on a temporary leave of absence are: Vicky Richardson, Irene Harlow and Mary Arth.

Zeta Upsilon meets the first Thursday of every month for socials, cultural programs and friendship. Beta Sigma Phi, Zeta Upsilon has taken on many community projects including purchasing wigs for cancer patients through the Locks of Love program; providing

Thanksgiving meals for the less fortunate; and purchasing patio furniture for Roosevelt General Hospital.

Beta Sigma Phi is an international women’s organization friendship network. Members include women of all ages, interest, and educational and economic backgrounds. Portales has three chapters with total membership of approximately 60.
