Sept. 2 Club Notes

Fairfield Extension

The Fairfield Extension met at 10 a.m. Aug. 24 in Sharon Ragland’s home.

There were 12 members present. A report on the council meeting was given.

Hosts for the rest of the year were selected.

Members were reminded of the membership dinner, which will be held Sept. 11 at the Extension Building.

The next meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 at 1700 Main St. with Martha Watkins and Jean Hardin serving as hosts.

Clovis Quilter’s Club

The Clovis Quilter’s Club met Aug. 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church with 14 members present.

Gail Strickler reported that a quilting book was donated to the Clovis-Carver Public Library in memory of Bernie Sternberg.

Updates were given on the High Plains Quilt Festival, Operation Homefront and the centennial quilt.

The next guild meeting will be Oct. 27 with Sharon Stone leading a workshop on dying fabrics.

Sheryl Abdill thanked those who entered and helped with the Curry County Fair. She also reported that the needlecraft room had 36 more entries than last year.

Ester Mares presented the block of the month.

The mystery block pattern was distributed.

Show-and-tell items were shared with several baby quilts for the Hartley House turned in, and six Christmas stockings for the Portales children’s home were turned in.

The group started making the donation quilt for the Hartley House.
