Regis gets past Hounds

DENVER — Freshman forward Nathan Kafer assisted on the first goal, then punched in the game-winner early in the second half on Sunday to give Regis a 2-1 men’s soccer victory over Eastern New Mexico University.

The Rangers (1-1) scored nearly 13 minutes into the contest with Kafer picking up a rebound and sending it to sophomore Sam DePetro, who poked it past ENMU senior goalkeeper Leif Craddock.

The Greyhounds (1-1) pulled even with about 20 minutes left in the half when junior forward Jared Morris took a feed from senior forward-midfielder Keith Vargas and beat Rangers keepter Eric Lamar.

Kafer’s goal, with just over 31 minutes left, came on an assist from Sterling Copeland.

Craddock helped keep the Hounds close by making eight saves in the match.
