Residents report two intrusions

Two Clovis residents confronted intruders at their homes in separate incidents Thursday night and Friday morning, according to police.

A 62-year-old man was stabbed in the back when he confronted a young male in his back yard around 11 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of Davis Street, according to Clovis Police. The victim was treated and released from Plains Regional Medical Center, Police Capt. Patrick Whitney said.

No one was injured in the other incident, which occurred about 4:30 a.m. Friday in the 1200 block of Comer Drive.

No suspects were apprehended in either incident, Whitney said.

In the first incident, police reported a man and his wife were getting ready for bed at their home on Davis when their dog began acting strangely. The man told police he approached a young male when he was stabbed.

In the second incident, a man arrived home from work and found two male intruders leaving through his back door on Comer Drive, Whitney said.

The man told police he chased the intruders through the back yard and began pursuing them into the alley behind his home. He turned back and called police when he realized the intruders had taken four loaded rifles from his home, Whitney said.

Police said the suspects entered the home through a back kitchen window. The rifles appeared to have been the only items stolen, police said.
