Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 3 p.m. July 30 an officer took a report of credit card fraud at the police department. A woman said charges for purchases she did not make from Bulgaria appeared on her account totaling almost $250.

About 3:30 p.m. July 30 an officer took a report of theft at a home in the 300 block of East 12th Street.

A woman said she was watching her daughter’s house while she was out of town and discovered a window air conditioning unit had been stolen from the house. She said she thought someone was staying in the house because she found the television on and back door unlocked.

Around 10:30 p.m. July 30 an officer responded to a home in the 500 block of East Ninth Street for a report of theft.

A woman said she found a man lifting her dog over the fence after her dog started barking and making choking noises from the front yard.

When she opened her door she said her cat ran out and the man put the dog down, then ran after the cat, talking to it. The man seemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, she said. She said he caught the cat and ran off with it.

About 6:30 a.m. July 31 an officer responded to the area of Norris and Marlene streets for a report of a man walking in traffic.

They found a man pushing his bicycle at an intersection. When they asked him questions about his identity and where he was from, the man refused to sit down and accused them of harassing him, cursing at them. He was arrested for impeding traffic.

Around 7 p.m. July 31 an officer responded to a home in the 1100 block of Edwards Street for a report of a man hitting a woman.

A woman told the officer her boyfriend came home while she was cooking dinner and she asked him where he had been. She said they started arguing and he pushed her and slapped her in the face, knocking her glasses off. The officer noted red marks on her face.

The man was arrested for battery on a household member.

Around 9 p.m. July 31 an officer responded to a home in the 700 block of East Eighth Street for a report of burglary.

A man told the officer he heard a loud crash in his neighbor’s yard. He said he went out to investigate and saw a man in black clothing with a stocking cap on his head coming out of his neighbor’s window. He said the man was carrying a small bag and large cup, and ran when he was found.

The officers made contact with the owner of the home, who said a cup of change and an electronic item were missing.
