• Vic Stockard and Vernon Gibson were re-elected to serve on the Portales Valley Sweet Potato Association board of directors during the annual grower’s meeting. During the meeting, it was reported that 920 acres of sweet potatoes had been planted in Roosevelt County.

• Slater Bros. Home and Auto Supply advertised 3-T Nylon all weather tires for $51.80 for a set of four.

• The B.O. Green house was literally rocked off it’s foundation after a falling REA wire set off an explosion. The explosion caused the foundation to move three inches to the south and also caused other damage to the home. No one was injured in the incident.
