Festival will feature Holly kin

Music fans can look forward to new events at this year’s Clovis Music Festival.

This year’s festival will be held Sept. 6-8 at the Clovis Civic Center, said Clovis Chamber of Commerce spokeswoman Liz Eisenbraun.

The three-day event will feature a question and answer segment with music artists, tours and, of course, music.

Legends of Clovis show starts off the music on Sept. 6. The show will feature Buddy Holly’s brother, Travis Holley.

“We tried to get just about anyone that was around that recorded at the (Norman Petty) studio,” Eisenbraun said.

A Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley tribute show is scheduled for the the next day.

Bobby Vee and the Vees headlines the event on Saturday June 8.

“He hasn’t played in Clovis in a long time, but he’s quite a popular artist,” she said.

The ticket price for each show is $15. All of the events will start at 7 p.m.

Eisenbraun said the festival has attracted people from across the world.

“Buddy Holly recorded most of his hits here in Clovis and he’s just had a huge following, particularly in England and Australia,” she said.

The Chamber of Commerce will also have a showcase at its new Visitor Center, Eisenbraun said.
