• The Portales News-Tribune purchased the Quay County Sun and planned to continue publication of the weekly newspaper. The PNT has been printing the Quay County Sun since its inception.
• Eastern New Mexico University’s Mike Boit set two NAIA records in leading the Hounds to the NAIA outdoor track championship and ENMU head track coach Bill Silverberg is named NAIA track coach of the year for the second consecutive year.
