Hounds, Zias sign players

Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer coach Carlos Elizondo and women’s soccer coach Travis McCorkle have each added a player for next year’s squads.

The men have signed Odilon Garcia of Ogden, Utah, to a national letter of intent. Garcia earned first-team all-state and first-team all-region honors as a midfielder at Ben Lomond High School in Ogden.

Kandace Padilla, a forward-midfielder from St. John’s, Ariz., has signed with the women. She led St. John’s to a state runnerup finish as a senior, earning a berth on the state all-tournament team.

As a junior, Padilla was her team’s most valuable player and an honorable mention all-state selection. McCorkle believes she will add punch to the Zias’ offense.
