Mead receives honor

Clovis High senior running back Brian Mead was one of 50 players chosen in February for the Old Spice Red Zone player of the year award.

Mead, Clovis’ all-time leading rusher with 4,266 yards and 55 touchdowns for his career, was one of two players chosen from New Mexico. The other was Artesia receiver Scott Poe.

Mead, who helped the Wildcats reached the Class 5A state playoffs the past three seasons, will be a non-scholarship player at New Mexico State University. He is slated to redshirt in 2007.

He will switch to wide receiver for the Aggies.
