Student Profile: Grooms

Iris Grooms is a senior at Clovis High School. She is the daughter of Roger and Kim Grooms.

What is your most prized possession? I was given a plain heart-shaped box on my 14th birthday. I was told to decorate it and put things in it that would remind me of who I was and where I came from. When I look into it, I recall all the people and things that have contributed to who I am today.

Who is your hero and why? It is a three-way tie between my parents and foster mom. I know and appreciate their willingness and the sacrifices they made to make sure my siblings and I developed into people of character.

Tell us about a happy time. My first All-State Choir experience brought me happiness because I had previously never experienced something so musical and intense rolled into one event.

What do you envision your life being like in 10 years? In school pursuing a doctorate.

What is your favorite quote? “Don’t just make a difference in your world, make your world different.”
