Paint store making move to Prince St.

Sherwin-Williams is moving its retail paint store from downtown Clovis to North Prince Street, according to store manager Rusty Baker.

Baker said the new store will have 5,000 square feet of space, 25 percent more than the 1201 North Main St. location. Assistant Manager Jeff Huddleston said the new store at 3220 North Prince St. is expected to open March 1.

The move will help “capture more of the retail traffic flowing” north of the city in the area of Lowe’s and Wal-Mart, Baker said.

“It’s been something I have wanted to do for about five years,” he said.

The new store will have more room for larger quantities of coatings for commercial jobs and more offerings for consumers, Baker said.

Sherwin-Williams, based in Cleveland, has been in business since 1866, according to its Web site.

Baker said he believes the company has had a store in Clovis since 1941, and the North Main Street location began operation in the 1960s.
