Hounds open with NMSU exhibition

Hobbs — ENMU and New Mexico State’s inner-state rivalry continued Monday night as the Aggies trounced the Greyhounds 87-65.

ENMU senior guard Tristan Largent recorded 19 points on 5-for-11 shooting, while senior forwards Ira Cross and Mikal Monette snatched eight rebounds apiece.

The Hounds kept the game honest in the first half answering a 14-5 opening burst by the Aggies with a 6-0 run to pull within three.

NMSU proved too strong down the stretch, led by junior guard Justin Hawkins’ 24 points and 12 rebounds.
