Rambelles outlast ENMU

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Cristina Doris compiled 20 kills and 17 digs and Angelo State rallied from a 2-1 deficit in games to edge Eastern New Mexico University 30-28, 25-30, 28-30, 30-24, 17-15 in a Lone Star Conference South Division matchup on Thursday night.

Adrienne Taylor added 15 kills, 12 digs and three block solos for the Rambelles (4-20, 2-7 South), who avenged a five-game loss earlier this season at Greyhound Arena.

ENMU (6-24, 1-8) took a 14-13 lead in the fifth game on a kill by junior middle blocker Vicki Charvat and an ace by junior outside hitter Jessie Macknicki, but couldn’t hold on as the Rambelles scored four of the final five points.

Macknicki collected 14 kills and 23 digs for ENMU (6-24, 1-8), which has lost 12 in a row since beating Angelo on Sept. 30. Junior outside hitter Randi Egley had 13 kills and nine digs for the Zias, while junior outside hitter Vanessa Wilcox had seven total blocks and junior libero Stephanie Willett had a match-high 33 digs for the Zias.
