ENMU presents Carroll classic
October 10, 2006
Eastern New Mexico University’s theatre and dance department will present Alice and Wonderland for their first play of the season. The play will be held at the University Theatre Center and will start this Thursday and run through Saturday, starting at 7 p.m. every evening.
This play is roughly three months in the making, according to director Joseph Sanders the production meetings started in July and the building of the set and making of the costumes has been taking place for about the last three weeks.
“We have kept the Disney version in mind, but costumed and designed our production to reflect our vision of Wonderland,” said Sanders.
This production is one of the largest ENMU has created in several years said Sanders in an ENMU press release. The play is very technically involved so the set is designed very bright and the fly wheel will be used so that different sets can come in from above Sanders explained.
The play is a compilation of two Lewis Carroll stories, the first is Alice in Wonderland and the second is Alice Through the Looking Glass. Act one is from Alice in Wonderland and Act two is from Alice Through the Looking Glass.
General admission tickets are $8, seniors 55 and older $7, pre-college students $6, and ENMU students $5. The box office is open 12-5 p.m. and will also be open at 6 p.m. on performance nights. For more information, contact the Department of Theatre and Dance at 562-2711.
