What happened: The Foxes posted their second consecutive shutout, limiting the Falcons to 118 total yards.

Why it happened: Fullback Braeden Dimitroff scored on a 6-yard run in the first quarter, while his brother Cass Dimitroff added a 6-yard TD run and a 20-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Records: Fort Sumner 4-3, Loving 2-5.

Offensive heroes: Cass Dimitroff rushed for 148 yards on 29 carries, and booted two extra points besides his field goal. Sophomore Berry Stinnett added a 1-yard TD run in the final period, and caught four passes for 58 yards.

Muleshoe 52, Highland Park 0

What happened: The Mules scored two touchdowns in the first minute, including an 88-yard return of the opening kickoff by Victor Vasquez, in routing the winless Hornets at Amarillo and improving to 2-0 in District 2-2A action.

Why it happened: Muleshoe dominated Highland Park 314-110 in total offense. The Mules did not punt in the game, and did not turn the ball over.

Records: Muleshoe 5-1 (2-0 district), Highland Park 0-6 (0-2).

Offensive heroes: Vasquez added a second TD on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter. Meantime, Eric Washington carried four times for 65 yards and two scores, and quarterback Garrett Riley completed 9-of-18 passes for 127 yards and a TD and ran 43 yards for another score.

What happened: The Mustangs scored two touchdowns inside the first five minutes and steamrolled the Bobcats with three TDs in the final period.

Why it happened: The Mustangs survived 265 yards passing by Smyer, rolling up 374 yards of total offense — all on the ground.
