Accident claims life of Jal man

A 21-year-old Jal man is dead following a single- vehicle rollover early Friday morning in Roosevelt County, according to a press release from police.

Jared B. Hunter was traveling north on State Road 206 at approximately 2 a.m. when the vehicle he was driving crossed the south-bound lane and into a field, rolling multiple times, according to state police. The vehicle came to rest on South Roosevelt Road 9.

A passenger, Eric D. Coca, 23, of Cimarron, was treated for minor injuries at Roosevelt General Hospital, the release said.

Evidence at the scene and a statement by Coca indicate alcohol was a factor, according to the release.
