Snacks coming on next show

Information on making after school snacks, gifts ideas for kids to make, and recipes and ideas to “spice up” your next party will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon on Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday. “Creative Living” airs on public broadcasting station, KENW-TV, from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales.

Tamsen Salvador, Pacific Northwest Canned Pears, will share some after school snack ideas that kids will not only enjoy eating, but will want to make for themselves. She’s from San Francisco, Calif.

Lisa Reid, editor of a newsletter called Pursestrings from Santa Fe, believes everyone should be able to enjoy holidays and special occasions without spending so much money. She’s going to share some gift ideas for kids to make, and show some inexpensive treats and decorations for various holidays.

Connie Moyers, New Mexico Cooperative Extension Agent, formerly a home economist with Southwestern Public Service Co., will share some clever ideas and interesting recipes to help ensure that your next party has a bit more “pizzazz.” Moyers lives in Clovis.

Information on stumpwork stitchery by machine and food gifts will be the featured topics on Creative Living at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday and at noon on Thursday.

Cindy Losekamp, a sewing expert from Cedar Grove, Ind., will show a hand-sewing technique that originated in the 1400s and was originally called raised embroidery. Losekamp will show how it has been adapted for machine use. Her business is Artfully Yours.

Using a gingerbread theme, Moyers will show how to make gifts from the heart that can be enjoyed year ’round.

English Muffins with Pear Peanut Butter

1 English muffin (plain or cinnamon raisin)

2 Tbsp. peanut butter

2 tsp. honey

2 pear halves

Split muffin and toast cut sides. Spread each half with one tablespoon peanut butter. Drizzle each with 1 teaspoon honey. Slice pear halves and arrange slices on top. Makes 2 servings.
