A look at Curry County Fair:

The basics

What: Curry County Fair

When: Monday through Sunday

Time: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (midnight Satuday)

Where: Curry County Fairgrounds

Cost: Adults, $5; senior citizens (55 and older), $4; children (15 and under), $2; preschool, free

General admission for fair week is $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $5 for

children.

Music

Jack Ingram: The country music star will headline Saturday's concert. The Texas native’s single “Love You” is on the Billboard music charts. Ingram and his Beat Up Ford Band are often referred to as modern-day honky-tonkers.

Grupo Vida: The nationally recognized Tejano band, also known as the Electric Cowboys, will perform Thursday. The group’s latest CD is titled Sin City. They are known for their energetic sound and instrumental skills.

Charla Corn: The Farwell native will make her hometown debut when she opens Saturday for Jack Ingram.

Shows

Amazing Rainforest Experience: Features trained animals such as a tiger, white fox and numerous birds.

Austin P. Roadman, “Keep it on the Road Show”: A talking armadillo will entertain through audience participation and improvisational heckling.

The Amazing Arthur: Comedian, juggler, yoyoer and hypnotist.

Activities

Horseshoe pitching contest: Singles contest will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Mixed teams contest will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Both contests are available for men, women and juniors and will be held west of the Old Place.

7th Annual Great American Turtle Race: 9 a.m. Saturday. Turtles must be pre-registered at 600 N. Main from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Only box turtles are allowed to race and all animals will be kept and returned to the wild.

Youth Pet Show: Children through age 18 can enter fish, spiders, mice, horses or any other pet.

Youth Day: Activities begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
