Bass, Cletus R.

Cletus Ray Bass, 40, of Melrose died Sunday, June 4, 2006, in Tulsa, Okla.

He graduated from Melrose High School. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He worked with his father at the Tire Store and with many area farmers and wheat harvesters. He also worked at the Melrose Grain Elevator and was employed as a custodian at Melrose Independent Schools.

Family members said he was a hard worker, enjoyed cheering for the Melrose Buffaloes and could sing any country western song.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Bass, and mother, Wanda Bass.

Survivors include four brothers, Alvey O. Bass of Odessa, Texas, Glenn E. Bass of Marshall, Texas, and Ernest L. Bass and Wendell G. Bass, both of Amarillo; two sisters, LaVada A. Silva of Amarillo and Rebecca A. McBride of Marshall, Texas; 14 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews.
