ENMU rodeoer in seventh

CASPER, Wyo. — Eastern New Mexico University senior Rowdy Sanders is seventh in bull riding while ENMU sophomore Raelyn Gardner is in a three-way tie for 10th in breakaway roping after the second go of the College National Finals Rodeo.

Sanders, from Whiteface, recorded a no-score in Tuesday’s second go after posting a score of 82.5 in the first go on Sunday. He only fell four notches from third place because just four of the 44 competitors in the event have earned a score in both rounds so far, including only 10 in the second go.

Gardner, from Lovington, posted a time of 4.2 seconds in her event on Tuesday after a time of 3.3 in the first go and is tied with Lila Hays of Southeastern Oklahoma and Tara Finley of Walla Walla (Wash.) Community College.

Sanders and Gardner are scheduled to compete in Thursday’s third go, scheduled for 7 p.m.
