Cerda, Richard

Richard Lee Cerda, 33, died Saturday, May 27, 2006 in Clovis. Mr. Cerda was born May 31, 1972 to Richard and Rosalinda Vera Cerda in Amarillo. He married Anna Marie Mares on Dec. 22, 1993 in Clovis. He was an employee of Wilhite Construction, previously employed by Blue Beacon in Amarillo, Texas, where he also attended school prior to moving to Clovis.

According to family members, he enjoyed coaching his daughter’s softball team, camping and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his parents; his wife, Anna Marie Cerda of Clovis; two daughters, Olivia Mares and Catherine Mares, both of Clovis; a son, Richard Cerda, Jr. of Clovis; a grandson, Elias Lira of Clovis; three sisters, Liza (husband Lucky) Dominguez, Rebecca Cerda, and Miranda (Leon) Molina, all of Amarillo; three brothers, Joe Galvan of Austin, Texas, Samuel (Irma) Galvan of Amarillo and Ricardo Cerda of Hereford, Texas; grandparents, Manuel (Millie) Mitchell of Plainview, Texas, Martin (Ramona) Vera of Amarillo, Texas and Juan (Julia) Molina of Clovis; a mother-in-law, Louisa Mares of Clovis; six nieces and six nephews.

A rosary has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Sotero Sena will officiate services.

Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis. J.R. Vallejo, Mark Lopez, Luis Perez, J.J. Gomez, Blake Berry, Arturo Vera, Juan Vera and Mark Vera will serve as pallbearers.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
