Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

Around 4 p.m. May 18, an officer responded to a home in the 300 block of North Walnut regarding a marijuana pipe found on the porch of a vacant house. The officer said in his report he logged the item into evidence to be destroyed, as there was little likelihood of locating the owner.

About 3:30 May 18, an officer was dispatched to Clovis Community College for a report of a stolen laptop. An employee said his computer was removed from his desk. No one was seen leaving the area. The computer is valued at $1,000.

At about 4:30 p.m. May 18, an officer was sent to the 1700 block of Thornton for a report of a woman being assaulted. The man and woman involved were both visibly battered. The male had a bleeding lip and the female had red marks covering her back. The two said they had been arguing and then begun fighting. The man was found to have an outstanding warrant and was arrested. The injuries were photographed.

Around 1 a.m. May 19, an officer was dispatched to a convenience store in the 1200 block of West Seventh for a report of a woman being chased with a knife. The woman said while shopping she had run into a woman she had allowed to stay with her recently and they argued. She said the woman began chasing her with a knife in her hand and she ran for fear of her life. Witnesses told police they had seen the woman chasing her. An arrest warrant is being sought.
