Denison, Vera Lee

Vera Lee Denison, 84, of Conestee, S.C., formerly of Clovis, Hassell and Encino, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Conestee.

She was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Texas to Oscar and Evvie Turner Ranells. Her family moved to Hassell, where she married Carl Leslie Blackburn in Clovis. They moved to Subiaco, Ark., where he later died. She moved to Clovis. She married Hubert John (Shorty) Denison in 1965 in Clovis, and they moved to Encino, where they lived until he died in 1981. She moved to Conestee to be closer to her daughters 20 years ago.

She had nine children, including two sets of twins and one set of triplets. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; a daughter, Marilyn Sue Blackburn; a son, Morris Wayne Blackburn, and a sister, Mary Alice Atwell.

She is survived by three daughters, Martha Johnson of Albuquerque; and Margery Blackburn and Evelyn Tollison of Conestee; four sons, Carl Blackburn of Hillboro, Texas, Stanley Blackburn of Amarillo, Sidney Blackburn of Muldrow, Okla., and Marvin Blackburn of Melrose; a brother, Robert Ranells of Arkansas; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a special aunt, Velma Turner, and special cousin, Carl Turner, both of Arkansas.
