Berry, Betty

Betty Lou Berry, 74, of Lubbock, died Friday, April 14, 2006, at her home.

Born Nov. 25, 1931, in Afton, Texas, to William and Amelia Wade Hartman, she married Kenneth J. Berry on March 17, 1950, in Lubbock.

Even though the family moved frequently because of her husband’s business, she always was involved with her children’s school functions, being a homeroom mother and hosting Halloween parties, according to family members. She was a supportive and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, they said, and she was always there for family and friends, and even strangers. She loved to cook, and always had something going in the kitchen, ready to eat, family members said.

She was a member of the Community in Christ Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Ramirez (and husband, Abel) of Lubbock; her son, Kenneth Berry of Bakersfield, Calif.; her sisters, Jo Ann Browning of Silsbee, Texas, and Patsy Hamm of Yelm, Wash.; grandchildren Larita Wooten, William Jacob Berry, Tishia Long, and Christopher Scott and Gregory Berry; 20 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Paul Crooks will officiate services.

Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home, Lubbock.
