Mary Lou Combs

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Portales Cemetery

Mary Lou Combs, 66, of Lake Charles, La., died Sunday, April 16, 2006, at her residence.

She was born Dec. 21, 1939, in Chickasha, Okla.

She grew up in Portales and made her home here until 1992, when she moved to Cameron, La. She recently relocated to Lake Charles as a result of hurricane damage to her property.

Active in the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary for many years, she was a past president of the organization in Lake Charles.

Family members said she enjoyed yard sales and making dolls and afghans.

She was preceded in death by her father, Tex Cabeldue, in 1994; a brother, Bobby Cabeldue, in 1994, and her husband, Frankie Combs, in 1990.

She is survived by Wesley LeBoeuf of Lake Charles, her companion for the past 15 years; four sons, Steve Combs (and wife, Jan) and Bruce Combs (Alexis), all of San Angelo, Texas, Jeff Combs (Edra) of Atlanta, and David Combs of Portales; a daughter, Pam Combs of Ruidoso; seven grandchildren; her mother, Alpha Dean Cabeldue of Clovis; a brother, Ray Cabeldue of Portales; and two sisters, Iva Howard of Houston and Kay Wadman of Polly’s Island, S.C.

Marlin Poynor will officiate services.

Family members and friends will be honorary pallbearers.

Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
