Meeks, Clarence “Slim”

Clarence “Slim” M. Meeks , 88, Farwell died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Farwell Convalescent Center.

He was born April 4, 1918, in Farwell, Texas to Edward H. and Nannie Avo Meeks.

He graduated from Oklahoma Lane High School in 1935. He spent five years in World War II in the 3rd Armored Division of the U.S. Army. He married Addie (Snooks) Birchfield on Jan. 17, 1948, in Clovis. He was a lifelong farmer, retiring at the age of 62.

He was a member of the Farwell Church of Christ serving as a deacon and elder for 50 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers and a granddaughter.

He is survived by two daughters, Debbie Sewell (and husband, J.R.) of Seminole, Texas, and Susan Scioli (Doug) of Texico; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loy Hardesty and Phillip Steyn will officiate.

Burial is at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Clovis.

Todd, Eddie Meeks and Greg Meeks, Doug Sewell, Dave Beaubien, David and Josh Scioli and Robin Mahaney will serve as pallbearers.

Members and fellow elders of the Fifth Street and Avenue C Church of Christ and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family members have suggested memorials to a favorite charity.
