Renovated Clovis Inn joins new chain

With its renovation complete, the Clovis Inn and Suites at 2912 Mabry Drive joins the Best Western hotel chain, according to a news release from the hotel chain.

The hotel offers 96 rooms, including 18 suites, and features complimentary continental breakfast, an on-site restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, exercise facility, guest laundry, meeting room and business center and an airport courtesy shuttle. Rates start at $50.

ENMR-Plateau directors up for re-election

ENMR-Plateau is holding its annual membership meeting at 10 a.m. April 22 in Yellowjacket Gym in Clayton, according to a news release from the phone cooperative.

The members’ meeting will use ENMR-Plateau’s interactive television system with remote sites at the Santa Rosa High, Logan High and the ITV television center at Clovis Community College, according to the news release.

Five board members running opposed will be elected at the meeting: Kenny Wilhite of Pleasant Hill, Frank Blackburn of Ranchvale, Larry Wallin of Logan, Patsy Perschbacher of Amistad and Walt Eastland of Santa Rosa.

Other business will include reports from the board president, chief executive officer, staff and committees. The 2006 ENMR-Plateau Education Foundation Scholarship winners will be recognized.

Registration starts at 8 a.m.

Walgreens’ March sales up from last year

Walgreens Co. had March sales of more than $4 billion, a 9.2 percent increase over sales of $3.7 billion for March 2005, the company announced.

March pharmacy sales increased 13 percent, according to the company.

Walgreens opened 43 stores during March, including six relocations.

Farmers reminded of program deadline

Landowners with Conservation Reserve Program contracts expiring Sept. 30, 2007, may be eligible for contract re-enrollments or extensions, according to a news release from the Department of Agriculture.

They should have received a letter from their FSA county office explaining the offer and outlining options, the news release said.

The contract re-enrollments and extensions are designed to keep environmentally sensitive land in the CRP program, the release said.

Producers have until Friday to accept the offer. They may contact the Quay FSA office for more information.
