ENMU's Spring Fling has sprung

Eastern New Mexico University’s Spring Fling festivities kicked off Wednesday night with a concert by the band “Raining Jane.” Jeff Blake, director of student activities at ENMU, said it was a packed house inside the Campus Union building’s ballroom.

“Spring Fling gets bigger and better each year,” Blake said. “It’s the best Spring Fling ever. It’s one more way to celebrate spring.”

A 5K fun run is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday at Greyhound Arena. Blake said the public is invited, but applications should be filled out online today at the university’s Web site. Los Angeles-based comedian Adam Hunter will appear with comedian Steve Hofstetter at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Campus Union building ballroom and a Spring Fling luau featuring a concert by a Jamaican reggae band called “Anthem” will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday in the ballroom.

The band has been featured on MTV and the band members have been described as rappers, R & B singers, and old-fashioned rock ‘n rollers. Blake said limbo contests will be held and everybody gets free t-shirts at the luau.
