Spring break is all this week.

Fundraisers scheduled

The Love Soup Extravaganza will be April 3. Fundraiser cookbooks will be on sale for $5. Both will benefit the fine art and athletic booster club.

Spring athletics continue

State cheerleading competition will be Friday and Saturday at The Pit in Albuquerque. The Floyd cheerleaders will also do a public performance Monday at the school at 6:30 p.m. The elementary cheerleaders and junior high cheerleaders will also be performing.

The Floyd Bronco track season began March 17 with a meet at Dexter. The Lady Broncos placed first in the team standings. State qualifiers were Kelsi Gray in the long jump, Kelli Johnson in the 3200 and 1600, medley relay team and 1600 relay team. Medley relay members are Jessica Christensen, Rebecca Blue, Jordon Paul, and Johnson. Members on the 1600m relay team are Paul, Jordan Terry, Jessica Christensen, and Blue. Tuesday the track team will travel to Fort Sumner for a meet at 3 p.m.

FFA heads

to state

FFA will have state contests in Las Cruces Tuesday through Saturday.

Third-graders receive letters

The third grade class has received letters from their pen pals in Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica. The Costa Rican students are using the books and supplies that teachers Susan Nuckols and Rosella Galvan delivered to their one-room school in the jungle. The students are busy working on letters to send back to their pen pals. They are collecting Spanish books to include in their care package. If anyone would like to donate books, please contact Floyd Elementary.

State Spanish bee upcoming

The New Mexico State Spanish Spelling Bee is April 8.
