Charles W. Rutledge


Charles W. Rutledge, 68, died Nov. 4, 2005, in Albuquerque.

He was born in Clovis in 1937, and worked for many years with First Federal Savings and Loan, where he became president in 1975. As a career banker, he demonstrated his flair for architecture and real estate development, and was the founding father of the city of Santa Teresa in 1978, family members said. He was an accomplished figure skater and performed world-wide with the Ice Capades during the 1960s, according to family members. He retired as an officer with Savings of America in Florida in 1998, and moved back to New Mexico in 2004.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, R.H. Rutledge and Pat Rutledge; and two sisters, Wanda Crane and Roslyn Byars.

He is survived by a niece, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside memorial services will be held for him and his sister, Roslyn Byars, who died Sept. 10, 2005.

Arrangements are by Alameda Mortuary in Albuquerque.
