Steele, Virginia

Virginia Vinson Morris Steele, 88, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Parmer County Community Hospital in Friona.

She was born Oct. 9, 1917, on the Swinson Ranch in Motley, County to Hugh L. and Mae Emma (Sinclair) Vinson. Her first husband, Jack Morris, preceded her in death Oct. 15, 1965. She married Charlie Steele on Dec. 6, 1969, in Bovina. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bovina and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Clovis.

She is survived by her second husband; three daughters, Charlotte Middleton of Vega, Texas, Bonnie Scaff of Bovina and Krita Potts of Friona; two sons, Delbert Morris of Tulia, Texas, and Jerry Morris of Bovina; two step-sons: Dale Steele of Florida and Ronald Gene Steele of Sachse, Texas; two sisters, Mildred Key of Guthrie, Texas, and Pauline Hollar of Amarillo; two brothers, Marshall Vinson of Clovis and Garner Vinson of Ocala, Fla.; 19 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Leon Talley, minister of the 6th St. Church of Christ in Friona, will officiate services.

Burial will be in the Bovina Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona.
