Hailey, LaVerne

LaVerne E. Hailey, 72, of Clovis, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at her home. She was born July 26, 1933, to Edward and Margaret Morgan Stacey in Hillside, Colo. She married James Hailey on June 6, 1954, in Westcliffe, Colo.

She was a telephone operator for Mountain Bell in Pueblo, Colo., and later in Clovis. In 1968 she and her and husband Jim built the Der Wienerschnitzel in Clovis which is still the family business and also owned Hi-Winds shopping center. In 1977 she opened It’s a Small World with her daughter-in-law Joy in Clovis. It later became Hailey’s Family Affair. She retired in 1998. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church where she was involved in the Mary Martha Guild woman’s group.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

She is survived by her three sons, James (Joy) Hailey Jr. of Clovis, Doug (Deana) Hailey of Waterbury Center, Vt., and Mike Hailey of Clovis; one daughter Lendra Hailey of Clovis; three grandchildren Mindy (Aaron) Furrow of Chandler, Ariz., Derek Hailey of Clovis and Parker Hailey of Waterbury Center, Vt.

Father John Rollinson and Father Alan Brockmier will officiate services. Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis.

Pallbearers will be Charles Haas, Brian Pickard, Bruce Rose, Mike Wells, Derek Hailey and Todd Spencer.

Honorary pallbearers are Dwight Rose and Clay Bracken.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home, Clovis.
