Pinkston, Mary

Mary Lou Pinkston, 83, of Melrose died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, at Plains Regional Medical Center.

She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Trent, Texas, to Issac Allen and Ida Kelly Bright.

She was a longtime resident of the Melrose community. She married J.B. Pinkston on Dec. 9, 1945. in Melrose. She and her husband farmed together for many years. She was a member of the Melrose Church of Christ.

Family members said she enjoyed quilting, hiking, search puzzles, raspberry ice cream and spending time at Blue Haven.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mark Pinkston; a grandson, Jason Pinkston; and two sisters, Faye Bright and Florine Hawkins

She is survived by a son, Allen Pinkston of Amarillo; a daughter, Becky Hagee (and husband, Richard) of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Shannon Davis, Shawn and J. D. Pinkston and Mark Hagee; three great grandchildren, McKenzie, Parker and Avery Pinkston; a brother, Grady Bright (and wife, Mary Lois); and two sisters, JoAnn Brown (Bob) of Clovis and Ginger Hill (Steve) of Springer.

Otho Rogers and Ted Billingsley will officiate services.

Burial will be a Melrose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Allen, Stanley and James Donavan Pinkston, Mark Ernest Hagee, Neil Sanders, Jerry Brown and Gerryl Roach.

Honorary pallbearers will be all friends and neighbors.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
