Georgia Christina Camp, 80, of Roswell died on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006, at her home.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1926, in Oakville, Iowa, to George William and Sophia Nell Cunningham. She graduated from Oquawka High School in Illinois in 1943. She worked at an ordinance plant in Burlington, Iowa, for two years after high school, where she met L.C. (Lloyd) Camp and later married him June 22, 1945, in Burlington, Iowa.

She moved to Roswell just one year ago and touched many lives during her short stay. She played the piano at Berrendo Baptist and did volunteer work for Hospice.

She work in the tax assessor’s office and the district court clerk’s office in Lovington until her retirement in 1986.

She enjoyed playing the piano (mostly at church), attending sporting events and ministering to people, family members said.

She was preceded her in death by her husband nearly four years ago. He served as a pastor at Baptist churches in Colorado, Wyoming, Hobbs and for five years at Calvary Baptist in Clovis.

Survivors include her three sons, Darel Camp (and wife, Mary) of Aurora, Colo., Don Camp (Margie) of Roswell, and David Camp (Cindy) of Lovington; four granddaughters, Jami Lewis (James) of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Nicki Kerlin (Kevin) of St. George, Utah, and Sarah and Christina Camp, both of Lubbock; five grandsons, Noah, Samuel, Adam, Joseph Camp, all of Roswell, and Michael Camp of Lovington; and three great grandchildren, Benjamin and Georgia Camp of Aurora, Colo., and Caden Camp of Lubbock.

A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. in Lovington.
