Salazar, Richard “John”

Richard Juan “John” Salazar, 71, of Clovis, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at the Veterans Hospital in Amarillo.

He was born Dec. 14, 1934, to Diego and Nina Strange Salazar in Dixon. He was a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service in Clovis. He was a member of AMVETS No. 14 and the American Legion Post 25.

Family members said he loved fishing, hunting and camping at Tres Ritos. They added he was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and made many good friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother Perfecta Archuleta; and one brother, Wilbert “BoBo” Salazar

Survivors include his sons, Timmy Salazar (and his wife, Shellie) of Utah, Kenny Salazar of Salt Lake City and Benny Lucero (Estella) of Roswell; daughters, Judy Hice (Dino) of Dixon, Yolanda Aguillar (Dan) of Clovis and Ellen Garcia of Clovis; brothers, William “Billy” Salazar (Lisa) of Albuquerque and Robert “Bobby” Salazar of Dixon; 20 grandchildren, and 16 great- grandchildren.

Deacon Daniel Chavez is officiating services. Burial will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
