Carroll, Elizabeth

Elizabeth Ann Carroll, 86, of Houston, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2005, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

She was born on July 8, 1919, to August Gurske and Anna Soja, in Chicago. She married Lawton M. Carroll on Jan. 23, 1951, in Clovis. She worked as a Registered Medical Technologist. She came to Clovis in 1962. She worked at Clovis Memorial Hospital and Clovis Medical Center. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband; stepdaughter, Freda Clason; step-grandson, Jim Clason; and sisters, Claire Brandenburg, Sophia Webster and Margarete Keil.

Survivors include a son, James Carroll (and wife, Catherine) of Houston; daughter, Marilyn Carroll of Clovis; granddaughters, Kathleen Carroll Appling (and husband, Jeff) and Shannon Carroll Whatley (and husband, J.R.); great-granddaughter, Victoria Appling; stepson, Billy Carroll (and wife, Isabel) of Phoenix; step-granddaughters, Sharon Mulgrew (and husband, Roy) and Linda Shadeck (and husband, Willie); step-grandson, Gary Clason (and wife, Earline); sister, Helen Block of Chicago; brother, Edward Gurske of Lake Geneva, Wis.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Muffley Funeral Home Chapel.

Father Carlos Chavez is officiating.

Burial will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Clayton Cemetery in Clayton with Father James McGowan officiating.

Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis.
