Ford, Clayton

Clayton Ford, 16, of Elkins, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born Nov. 25, 1988, in Roswell.

He went to school in Elida. He enjoyed playing baseball and was looking forward to playing this season, family members said. He also enjoyed riding horses and breaking colts and riding his dirt bike. He was an avid fisherman and liked to hunt. He also enjoyed reading Louis L’Amour novels and watching old John Wayne movies.

Family members said he participated as a Big Brother in the Big Brother-Big Sister program. He often drove to Roswell to mow his grandfather’s lawn. He was an organ donor.

He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church in Roswell, and had also attended the Kenna Community Church.

His family lived on the White Lake Ranch until he was 9. Then they moved a short distance to Elkins, which is where the family home is now.

Survivors include his parents, Connie and Rick Ford of Elkins; his grandparents, Herb and Martha Ford of Roswell, and Don and Louise Russell of Plainview, Texas; his two sisters, Tatum Ford of Las Cruces and Cassie Ford (and fiancé Justin Rains) of Portales.

Rev. Galen Isaacs will officiate.

Burial will be at Kenna Cemetery in Kenna.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Widener, Thomas West, Kade Cathey, Tom Sullivan, Tanner Kube, Ryan Dannelley, Dylan Radcliff and Dustin Anthony.

Honorary pallbearers will be all family members and his many friends.
