Doak, Orville

Orville W. Doak, 95, of Lubbock, died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, in Lubbock.

He was born Feb. 23, 1910, in Silverton, Texas, to Vernon and Edna Doak. He married Jessie Fay Cooper in Clayton on June 2, 1932. After his wife’s death in 1994, he married Anna Hamilton in 1996.

He taught school for 30 years, the last 23 at Portales. He also worked with Boy Scouts and other organizations. Upon retiring from teaching, he went into farming and cattle feeding.

He served as President of New Mexico Peanut Growers Association and was President of Roosevelt County Farmers Union for several years.

He was an active member of the United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his children, Donna Beth and Rodney Orville.

Survivors include his wife; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
